NEW HORIZONS BIG BAND, SPONSORED BY THE CITY OF TUALATIN, IS SEEKING ALL FORMER HIGH SCHOOL, COLLEGE OR WORKING MUSICIANS
WHO WOULD LIKE TO BE PART OF A COMMUNITY BIG BAND.
If you are a former high school or college musician and play trumpet, trombone, alto sax, tenor sax, clarinet, standup bass, jazz piano, drums (not a rock drummer) you are invited to join this amazing new community band. All musicians will read music. Musicians will pay a nominal fee to cover expenses. (Private or small group lessons can be arranged if you can’t remember how to read music.)
Co-founder and director is Brad Davis, local big band
leader of the Kansas City Rhythm Kings and trumpet player. Co-founder, manager
and keyboard coach is Suzanne Short, big band keyboard player. Their mission is to keep big band music alive
and available to be performed by community musicians. The New Horizons Big Band
is sponsored by the City of Tualatin.
The band will meet at the Juanita Pohl Community Center,
8513 SW Tualatin Rd., in Tualatin, Or, on 1st and 3rd Mondays, and The Tualatin Heritage Center the 2nd and 4th Mondays.
Pick up where you left off in high school, college, or
your former band. The cobwebs will clear
quickly as you learn to play your instrument with more accuracy, and learn
about the style of big bands, swing bands, big band jazz. Meet and make new friends. Play regularly for the City of Tualatin and
other venues as invited.
The
New Horizons Big Band of Tualatin Oregon is a member of the New Horizons
International Music Association. Roy Ernst, Ph.D., Founder and Director
of the New Horizons Program and The New Horizons Music Project, is Professor
Emeritus of The Eastman School of Music.
